An Introduction to Japanese Sake with Jonathan Beagle

I am very excited to announce that we will be holding a collaboration tasting with the wine society this forthcoming Tuesday in the Wordsworth Room in St John’s. Jonathan, the President of the Wine Society, and I are both great lovers of sake and we want to show all of our members the brilliant range of sake that we have managed to secure for the tasting! Sake is rice wine and is brewed in a way not too dissimilar to beer but to a much higher alcohol content similar to wine. There will be around a dozen (or even more) different bottles to try for those who come and we will be guided through them by Jonathan, who is a highly qualified and much sought after expert, so it is the perfect night to come and learn all about sake.

There is very little high quality sake that currently makes it onto the shop shelves in the UK but we have sourced our bottles straight from Japan to provide the best quality sake that most of us will have had the opportunity to try. Whether you have been drinking it for years or have never even heard of it before, it is a night that cannot be missed!

The tasting is on Tuesday 1st December in the Wordsworth Room of St John’s College and starts at 9pm promptly.

Tickets are £11 each for members and £16 for non-members. We have limited numbers of tickets so get signing up.

This event is now sold out.
